As some have pointed out, Carney was unexpectantly challenged with technical teleprompter glitches during his recent Liberal leadership launch in Edmonton. This fact is not addressed in your think piece.
Nevertheless, I hope you find a way to bring your article and its wise communications recommendations to Carney's attention...as he now needs to quickly learn the ropes of effective political communications. Today's general public - for a variety of reasons - has become mistrustful of technocrats and experts, and those who can't distill complex issues into words that make common sense, are relatable, and resonate.
Carney's recent excellent interview on the John Stewart Show was an example that he is indeed able to convey his key messages in a very effective "from the heart" way. He was informed yet humble, witty yet relaxed and funny, and very engaging.
Now let's see - after his awkward launch in Edmonton - whether Carney can actually build on the charming political persona he displayed during The Steward Show, or not...
I agree, Fredericka. However, anyone with leadership aspirations must ensure that their technical staff is up to scratch. To fail in something as simple as teleprompter readiness for such a vital event is unforgivable and reflects poorly on the leader's ability to manage the government! I will write about my views as to how he should manage his campaign. It will be radical, but the Liberals need a radical change of course in order to survive and eventually return to power. Bon dimanche!
Saw him on The Daily Show. I was very impressed and hopeful. He seemed very knowledgeable, spontaneous, and articulate. I am saddened to hear about his subpar performance at home.
He may be the country's last hope, even America's. I'm horrified at what I'm seeing south of the border. It's like a re-enactment of Hitler's reign. We need a brilliant and tough man like Mr. Carney, who is still a human being we can trust. Ms. Freeland seems all those things too, but sadly, in the power games played at that level, does not have the authoritative presence needed to override her opponents' simian posturings.
I disagree with your analysis. He came across as genuine, more than any other current leader barring Blanchette.
As it turns out, the teleprompters were unreliable... so perhaps you may cut him some slack on that particular criticism.
His experience and expertise are solid, he is not a career politician, understands the nuances and motivations of business leaders, and presents an assessment of how Canada is currently doing economically and socially that is incisive. No childish slogans, no kumbaya banter... what a breath of fresh air.
If Carney gets to become the leader, it will be fine with me. However, I am also inclined to see a renewal of the LPC. My first choice is Karina Gould.
Sabio consejo. He tenido pequeñas experiencias que me confirman en tus pertinentes consejos(recomendaciones.

Indeed. It was a supreme let down!

Agree completely Kati. But Carney now needs to connect and connect hard with Canadians if we are to have any chance!🙏🙏🙏
